1979

Pol Pot - not as well thought of as Evangeline Lilly. Not by a long chalk. The Pittsburg Steelers, who won the Superbowl in the year that Evangeline Lilly was born. It is not known whether Lilly is a Steelers fan, or whether she could care less about American Football at all.

  • The Shah of Iran flees Iran with his family, relocating to Egypt after a year of turmoil.
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the Dallas Cowboys 35-31 in Super Bowl XIII played at the Miami Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.
  • On August 3rd, Evangeline Lilly is born Nicole Evangeline Lilly in the Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, which is 16 miles (25 km) north east of the centre of Edmonton.
  • Evi shares her birthday with author PD James, singer Tony Bennett, TV presenter Terry Wogan, stand-in Beatles drummer Jimmy Nicol, actor Martin Sheen, Nobel laureate Koichi Tanaka, director John Landis, Scrubs actor John C McGinley, and Spinderella from Salt n Pepa. Quite a group.

The 1990s

Before launching her acting career, Evi worked as a flight attendant and a waitress. Whilst studying at university, she took on roles in television commercials, including this one for a premium rate telephone chatline:

 

To be fair, this looks less like "phone sex" than one of those party line services where the participants are all men hoping that someone who looks like Evangeline Lilly will be on the other end of the line. Since being on a TV commercial for a company doesn't mean that you work for them in any other capacity, it's unlikely that she would have been.

I don't know, ring them if you want. Say, "Is Evangeline there please?" and see what they say. It'll probably be something along the lines of "No".

2004

Landing the role of Kate Austen in LOST was certainly Evi's big break, putting her in front of millions of worldwide television viewers and leading to other television and film work during the run of the show.
